How it works

What is a liquidation pallet?

A liquidation pallet is a bulk lot of retail stock sold together at a discount. Retailers, brands and distributors sell stock this way when they need to clear it quickly: items customers returned, products they ordered too many of, or goods taken off shelves.

You buy the whole lot, not individual items, and then resell it however suits you. The saving is real, but so is the risk, so this page explains what to look for.

Three kinds of stock

Customer returns

Items a shopper sent back. Condition varies from unopened to used or faulty, so check whether the lot is tested.

Overstock

New stock a retailer or brand had too much of. Usually unused and in its original packaging.

Shelf pulls

Items removed from shop shelves, often because of a seasonal reset or packaging change. Expect some shop wear.

How to read a listing

Every lot has the same details, so you can compare them side by side.

  • Lot ID: our reference for the pallet. Quote it when you contact us.
  • Units: how many items are in the lot. Divide the price by this to get your cost per item.
  • Estimated retail value: what the items would cost new in a shop. It shows the size of the discount. It is not what you will resell at.
  • Condition: tested and working, untested, new overstock, as-is, or mixed.
  • Stock source: customer returns, overstock, shelf pulls or a mix.
  • Manifest: a list of the items in the lot, where we have one.

What the condition labels mean

  • Tested and working: we checked the items and they work as intended.
  • New (overstock): unused stock, normally in original packaging.
  • Untested: not checked. Some items may not work.
  • As-is: sold with all faults, including missing parts or damage.
  • Mixed condition: a combination of the above in one lot.

Set realistic expectations

  • Some items in a lot will be damaged, incomplete or slow to sell. Price your resale so the lot still pays when that happens.
  • Start with one pallet in a category you already know. Learn how fast items sell before you scale up.
  • Count every cost: marketplace fees, transport, packaging, storage and your time.
  • You are responsible for what you resell. Check any rules that apply to the goods, such as safety marks on electrical products.
